| In
a meeting in Narmada Samagra recently a decision has been
made regarding Narmada River’s health. Gen. Secretary of Narmada
Samagra Mr. Anil Dave said in the meeting that Narmada is
a Living water body. Just like a human being Narmada's health
should also be checked every year. He declared to publish
a complete report on Narmada River's Health every year on
15th June in the form of Health Chart (NRHI).
In NRHI
relevant data relating to river health profile, (environment,
pollution, samaj behavior, shape, size and depth, flow, amount
of water and River economics), will be collected on the basic
objective of assessing the baseline status of river health.
From Amarkantak to Bharuch, on 14 places, 3 times in a year
related data should be collected and a report will be prepared.
People living on Narmada banks and students of college and
universities will be helping to collect the information regarding
this.
In 2011-12
Narmada Samagra has started collecting data from different
sampling stations using a structured Data Capture Format.
This is a first years of NRHI, a database created to keep
an eye on Narmada River health condition.
In the
coming future this activity will create a comprehensive database
in the form of NHRI, which has been institutionalized under
the Narmada Samagra for Planning and Management of Narmada
River health i.e. the data collection using the structured
DCF would be an quarterly exercise.
Entire
humanity is requested and invited to cooperate with the Narmada
Samagra in its efforts to make river healthy and accessible
to all in all aspects.
Your commitment
and cooperation will contribute in effective planning and
management of Narmada River Health.
